Jenny and Dan's Wedding {10.03.10}

I had the pleasure to work at Villa Montalvo again this past October for Jenny and Dan's wedding. Although I never actually had the pleasure of meeting Jenny, I know that she is super sweet as she wrote me a very nice thank you note after the wedding and just recently shared these pictures that her photographer Chung Nguyen took of her bouquet and wedding flowers! Great job Chung!

I was really humbled that Jenny and Dan were willing to book me as their florist all without even meeting me in person! I did get to meet Dan on the day of the wedding and some of their super nice family too as I was setting up. Surprisingly, I also ran into an old college friend, whom I had not seen for years. Congrats Jenny and Dan!

Tina and Bryan {11.27.10}

Despite the rain, everything was just perfect for Tina and Bryan's wedding. They were married at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple and had their reception at the lovely Silver Creek Valley Country Club. Tina had a gorgeous gown and fabulous red shoes to go with it. Her hair and make-up, done by Maria Chang of PMA, was absolutely stunning. To top it off, I was able to create the hot pink bouquet that Tina had envisioned using peonies, Yves Piaget roses, vendela roses and mini calla lilies. Bryan looked so happy to be marrying Tina, finally after an 11 year relationship, that rain could not spoil a thing. Tina and Bryan were such an easy going and awesome couple to work with. For the last wedding of the season for TJD, I could not have asked for a more lovely couple to have worked with. Congrats Tina and Bryan!

Marcela and Dan's Video Highlight

One of my favorite weddings this year was Marcela and Dan's wedding! I had so much fun designing the flowers for their wedding and just working with Marcela and Dan in general. I just got to work with Alaina from Capture Me Videography again and on their Vimeo page I came across the video highlight of Marcela and Dan's lovely wedding.

NACE Networking Event

I just came across some pictures that Carie and Jennifer from The Memory Journalist sent me of flowers that I had sponsored for a NACE event earlier this year. We were taken around the SF bay under the Golden Gate Bridge on one of the Hornblower Cruises where we got to enjoy some yummy food and the company of fellow events industry professionals all while cruising around the gorgeous bay.

We had a great time! Thanks NACE!

Priscilla and Chris {07.02.10}

One of the sweetest brides EVER that I've had the pleasure of working with just sent me pictures that her photographer, I Do Studio, sent her. Thanks Priscilla!

Priscilla and Chris were married at the Ranch Golf Club (I'm finding my self doing more and more weddings flowers there each year. Actually, I just did a wedding there this past weekend. It is one of my favorite places to do weddings. Satra, their events coordinator there is super on top of everything--she is awesome. I love coming to a venue when everything is already set-up and in place for other vendors to do their thing!) When I first met them, I knew that we had hit it off and that we would work together well. They wanted arrangements that were different, yet simple and understated. It was really cool that they were receptive to all my ideas as crazy and weird as "a vase filled with flocked moss stones and orchids" must have sounded to them. I was so humbled that without having first seen the centerpieces I described, they still went with it and trusted that I would come up with something unique and lovely for them.

Here are some of the pictures:

Congrats, Priscilla and Chris! Thanks for allowing me to be creative and share in your special day.

Hugs,

Pam and Allen {07.10.10}

I am so excited to share Pam and Allen's wedding! They were married this past July at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church and had their reception at Asian Peal in Fremont.

I instantly fell in love with Pam and Allen when I met with them for their initial consultation. They were so easy going and down to earth not to mention really excited about their wedding and working with great vendors. As I got to know Pam and Allen better, I found out that they both work at Genetech (where they met), which was really cool to hear because when I was in college I always dreamed of working there. I guess almost all genetics majors did at some point. I found out that Allen also went to UCD and that Pam works with UCD students as a recruiter. They are such a sweet couple!

Here are some gorgeous photos of their wedding that Ricky Wong of W Photography shared with me. You can see more of Pam and Allen's lovely wedding on Ricky's blog here and on his Facebook page here.

Maria Chang did a gorgeous job with Pam's hair and make up! She looked absolutely stunning!

Congrats Pam and Allen!

Miki + Norman {06.05.10}

I guess it is that time in my life when it seems that all my friends are getting married! It seems like all the weddings are back to back too!! Just about literally in this case. Miki and Norman are another one of our dear friends, who were married the weekend after Kathy and Derek! They were married at the lovely Wente Vineyards in Livermore.

When Miki and Norman asked me to do their floral designing, I knew it was going to be fun and unique. I worked closely with them to try to achieve a wedding that was truly their own. We decided to incorporate Miki's "quirky and cute personality" with Norman's "dorky and geeky, but cool" one. The architect in Miki described herself and Norman to me as a circle and a square! I ran with the circle and square description and deciced to use vessels that were cylinders and cubes. Miki also told me that she wanted her arrangements to be fairly eco-friendly so I decided to re-pot succulents and Marigolds so that their guests could enjoy them at home. Norman, who has a PhD in physics, showed off his dorky nature and painted the table signs which were named after mathematical shapes and their formulas. Dodeca...what?

For their headtable centerpiece and bouquets I wanted to incorporate Miki's love of the color orange and for fruits and vegetables.

Miki and Norman took personalizing their wedding to a whole other level. They decided to honor Miki's Japanese herritage by folding 1001 paper cranes which we displayed on manzanita branches at their ceremony. I believe they folded 5 or 6 daily for most of the year that they were engaged!! This was symbolic of dedication and patience.

So many cute details went into Miki and Norman's wedding including their cake and cake topper, not to mention the hand silk screened tote bags that Miki made! I wish I had those pictures to show you now! When they are available from Tuan, I'll post them =)

Cheers!

Kathy + Derek (05.30.10)

Kathy and Derek, a couple dear to my heart, tied the knot this past May. I am guessing that "Finally!!" is what we were all thinking as we watch Kathy and Derek (highschool sweethearts) said their I Do's. We all knew that they would marry some day. How could they not? They compliment each other in every way--like salt and pepper, chocolate and strawberries, peaches and cream, beer and a Paquiao fight?? LOL....I'm sure you can understand that these two were meant to be!

Kathy and Derek were married at the Silicon Valley Capital Club, which was on the 17th floor of the Knight Ridder building in downtown San Jose. The view was amazing and we had a fun evening with lots of good company.

I was thrilled when Kathy and Derek asked me to help with designing their invitations their wedding flowers! Here are some pictures that Tuan took of their skyline themed wedding.

The cake and floral design on the cake was done by Bijan Bakery. It had a skyline image made of chocolate...yum!

Congrats Kat and Derek!!

Amy + Dung {05.29.10}

HELLO!!

Sorry! It has been a little while since I've had the opportunity to post a wedding. Weddings will be at their peak for me starting this weekend with my brother's wedding! So, I figured I better start posting as much as I can now before I have even more of a back log. For those of you who have been awaiting some new content (Shout out to Patty and Kari!!), thanks for being so patient with me =)

I did Amy and Dung's wedding back in May. Amy was one of the most organized brides ever! Her background in project management made planning her own wedding feel like a breeze! Their wedding and reception was held at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga.

Here are some images that their photographer Tony Chu shared with me. I hope to share more pictures when they become available.

Enjoy!

Hanna + Eugene {05.15.10}

At our first meeting Hanna brought her friend Janet, who looked so familiar to me. We discovered that Janet and I went to the same high school and that we knew some of the same people! Needless to say, my initial meeting with Hanna felt like I was talking with an old friend about her upcoming wedding. I didn't get the pleasure to meet Eugene, but he is one lucky guy to have someone as sweet and lovely as Hanna.

Hanna and Eugene were married at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon. I remember thinking how gorgeous it would be to have a hilltop wedding overlooking the valley.

Some really cute details went into their wedding like this chalkboard sign.
H+E {05.15.10}

I created two altar pieces for the wedding and they were supposed to have sat on stone pedestals, but sadly we couldn't use the pedestals because they were really unsteady on the grass. So we ended up putting the arrangements on the sand ceremony table, which ended up working out, but it still would have been nice to use the pedestals.
H+E {05.15.10}

Hanna really wanted to have flowers that were in the shades of peach, ivory, and greens. She wanted them to have a romantic vintage feel, but still look organic in nature. These bouquets are some of my favorites! I love the Juliet Garden roses we used in her bridal bouquet. The look and smell wonderful.

Although it is tough to see in this picture, we created two different sized arrangements using two different sized tapered vases. The arrangements had white hydrangea, Sahara roses, scabiosa, Dusty Miller, and seeded eucalyptus.

I have never seen a doughnut cake display before. It was so cute and unique. Looking at the picture now makes me want to run out and get some Krispy Kreme! Their bird cake topper was super adorable too!!
