Marcela + Dan {05.08.10}

"Sweet" is a great word to describe Marcela and Dan, not to mention their wedding as well! I met Marcela and Dan last year when they were in the early stages of planning, but right away I knew that their wedding would be sweet and lovely, just like the both of them.

Marcela really had a vision from the very beginning as to the colors and floral look she was trying to go for--soft, lush and sweet looking. The soft pinks and greens from the flowers really went well with their dessert themed wedding. Their guest tables were named after different desserts and they also had a DELICIOUS looking mini dessert table from Sweet Tooth Confections and an oh so lovely cake from Edith Meyer Wedding Cakes.

It was the most beautiful day for a wedding at the Martinelli Event Center in Livermore and I wish I had a picture of Marcela to post, because just like the day she was absolutely gorgeous. Tuan and I were hanging the pink peonies from the trellis and got to witness Marcela and Dan's "First Look". I couldn't help but tear up while watching because as soon as Dan turned around to see Marcela for the first time on their wedding day, they looked even more in love then they did when I first met them. They are perfect together in every way!

Congrats Marcela and Dan!!

Kristy + Jed {05.02.10}

It was a gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding at the Mountain Winery. The weather warmed up nicely as earlier in the week leading up to Kristy and Jed's wedding, it was cold and windy. Their day couldn't have been more perfect.

When I first met Kristy and Jed, I remember thinking that they were such a cute couple who seemed very family oriented. During our first meeting they told me of their families and that they would be expecting many out of town guests. Jed's mother, Mrs. Geary was also from out of town. In fact she was helping to plan their rehearsal dinner of more than 80 people from Pennsylvania! So much love went into planning their special day and their guests had so much fun (they partied up until the very last second)!!

Congratulations Kristy and Jed!

Here are just a few pictures from their wedding.

Jamie + Simon-{04.17.10}

Jamie and Simon are one of the cutest and most easy going couple I have had the pleasure to work with. They were married at the lovely Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange Building in San Francisco. When I first met Jamie and Simon, they told me that they didn't know much at all about flowers. The only thing they wanted me to keep in mind was that they wanted their arrangements to be simple, clean looking, and elegant. Jamie did also tell me that she wanted the floral arrangments to be fun. Fun and elegant really sums up their wedding style.

Here are some pictures that Tuan took of the ceremony and reception at JMB.

I had the best time working with Jamie and Simon and REALLY enjoyed putting together the floral arrangements for their special day. I also got to work with an awesome group of vedors. Linda Hylen, Director of Events at the Julia Morgan Ballroom, was such a pleasure to work with. She made my job so easy as she took the time to walk me through the ins-and-outs of the building as well as explained details about the logistics of the event days prior to the wedding. Her expertise and attention to detail made for a seamless event.

Thomas John Events did the catering and did most of the set-up and flip of the ballroom from the ceremony to the reception. I was really suprised at the services they provided. They were so organized and on top of everything. Oh, and the TJE staff was super friendly too!

When Jamie mentioned to me that Carolie Tran would be photographing her wedding, I was so excited! I had come across Caorline's work before and remember LOVING her work. Caroline is very sweet and super talented. She is able to capture special moments sweetly and tenderly, but yet make them look fun and inviting. Her photographs make me want to jump into them so that I can be apart of whatever is happening at that moment in time. I didn't realize it at Jamie and Simon's wedding, but her husband Jonathan shoots with her too, which I think is awesome! I think it is great that they can work togehter. I know that I really enjoy working with Tuan. Caroline and Jonathan a great team!

Although I didn't get to hear too much of the music, I know that a majority of Jamie and Simon's guests were still dancing up until the very end. I guess Big Fun DJ is as they say they are!

With all that said, Jamie and Simon's wedding was a success! Congrats to you both and all my best wishes!

EJ and Charlie {3.21.10}

E.J. and Charlie were married at Freedom Hall and Gardens on March 21st. When E.J. and I fist spoke at our initial consultation she told me how much she loved pomander balls and wanted them to double as both the chair decorations for the ceremony and as the centerpieces at the reception. We made pomander balls of pink and orange carntations which really livened up the ceremony area. Their colors were orange, pink and pool. I loved the color combination--it was fun and vibrant, just like the happy couple.

E.J. told me that she wanted to incorporate some shell accents into the bouquets,--symbolic of her background as a marine biologist. I just love how fun they look.

Here are some of the pictures that I took of the bouquets on top of the yellow vintage Ford truck that belongs to Freedom Hall and of the ceremony area.

18th Birthday Debut {02.13.2010}

I worked with my mom last weekend for one of her catering jobs (my mom owns a restaurant and catering business, Magic Wok). I provided the floral decor for Kasandra's 18th Birthday Party Debut, which took place at the Milpitas Community Center. I also got to help with the actual catering portion (setting up tables and some waiting) , which I don't get to do often.

It is traditional for young Filipina ladies turning 18 to have a debut party celebrating their coming of age-- very similar to the Mexican quinceanera. Many times the planning and preparations that go into having a debut party almost equal the amount of time that go into weddings. Kasandra's party was well planned and I could tell that all of her guests were having such a good time. Her parents and sister Jackie did an awesome job!

Thuy and Ellis {01.30.10}

Our good friends Ellis and Thuy were married this past Saturday at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda. They asked me to do their bridal party and ceremony flowers and I was delighted to participate in their wedding as a vendor and as a guest.

Thuy was so gorgeous as she walked down the stairs leading to the ceremony area where Ellis was waiting patiently, nervously, anxiously, and enamored as if falling in love all over again. During the ceremony the officiant read stories that they wrote about each other and I couldn't help but get teary eyed. Thuy and Ellis are so perfect for one another. I wish them both a life time full of LOVE! Congrats Thuy and Ellis.
